Thai Defense Minister Phumtham Wechayachai said Thai and Cambodian forces will return to previously agreed positions.

For days, the two governments have vowed to find a peaceful solution after a Cambodian soldier was killed in a clash on May 28 in an undemarcated border area.
On June 7, both countries increased their military presence but Phumtham said in a statement on June 8 that both sides would return to agreed positions by 2024.
He also said both countries hope the border issue can be fully resolved through a meeting of the Joint Border Commission, which was set up to conduct bilateral talks on June 14.
According to the Bangkok Post, Cambodian soldiers have agreed to withdraw from the Thai border in Ubon Ratchathani province after talks between regional forces of both countries on June 8.
